This policy explains how RmonyX handles personal information when you visit the website, create an account, submit music, listen, comment, follow artists or playlists, create playlists, earn credits or otherwise use the service. RmonyX is operated from the United Kingdom. Privacy enquiries can be sent to privacy@rmonyx.com. Please make sure this mailbox is active before public launch.
Information we collect
We may collect information you provide directly, including your display name, username, email address, password in securely hashed form, artist name, profile information, submitted music links, playlist names and descriptions, comments and other information you choose to publish.
We also record information created through use of RmonyX, including likes, follows, playlist additions, shares, credit transactions, play starts and listening milestones used to operate discovery, analytics and the credit system.
Our servers may process technical information such as IP address, browser and device information, timestamps, referring pages and security logs. This is used to operate and protect the service, diagnose faults and identify abuse or automated activity.
Why we use your information
We use personal information where it is necessary to provide the RmonyX service you request, to operate accounts and community features, and where we have legitimate interests in securing the service, preventing manipulation, measuring genuine engagement, improving discovery and administering the platform. Where consent is required, for example for certain non-essential cookies or marketing communications, we will ask for it separately.
Public information
Your public username, display name, artist name, profile, submitted songs, public playlists, comments and other public community activity may be visible to anybody on the internet and may be indexed by search engines and other discovery services. Do not publish information that you want to keep private.
Music and third-party services
RmonyX does not host the music submitted by artists. Songs are played through supported third-party services. When a third-party player is loaded, that provider may receive technical information and may set or read cookies or similar technologies according to its own privacy policy. These providers operate independently from RmonyX for their own services.
Cookies and local storage
RmonyX uses essential session technology to keep members signed in, protect forms and maintain security. We may also store limited information needed for features such as guest listening limits and abuse prevention. If non-essential analytics, advertising or marketing cookies are introduced, they should not be activated for UK users until the appropriate consent controls are in place.
Who receives information
Information may be processed by service providers that help us host, secure and operate RmonyX. We only intend to provide them with information needed for their service. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect users or the service, or in connection with the investigation of fraud, abuse or security incidents.
International transfers
Some third-party technology or streaming providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where RmonyX itself appoints a processor that transfers UK personal data internationally, we will use an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism where required.
How long we keep information
Account information is normally kept while your account remains active. Security and transaction records may be retained for a reasonable period where needed to prevent abuse, resolve disputes and maintain the integrity of the credit and discovery systems. We will not keep identifiable information longer than reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it is held.
Your UK data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to ask for access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction, objection to certain processing and a portable copy of information you supplied. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent.
To make a privacy request, contact privacy@rmonyx.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office if you believe your information has been handled unlawfully.
Children
RmonyX is not intended to collect personal information from children who are not old enough to use the service independently under applicable law. If we learn that an account has been created in circumstances where valid parental or guardian authorisation was required but not obtained, we may restrict or remove the account.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect account information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so members should use a strong, unique password and keep their sign-in details private.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as RmonyX develops. Material changes will be published here and the date at the top of this page will be changed.
